NEW AAOMS Online Course Offering!

Medical Terminology and Oral Facial Anatomy 101

Registration is now open for a brand new online course offering on anatomy and terminology. Medical Terminology and Oral Facial Anatomy 101 is designed to provide one with basic knowledge of OMS anatomy, physiology and terminology to enhance one's ability to participate in the AAOMS Basic, Beyond the Basics and Advanced Online coding courses. In addition, Medical Terminology and Oral Facial Anatomy 101 will set the foundation for the increased medical terminology, anatomy and disease process knowledge that will be demanded by the new ICD-10-CM coding system that becomes effective October 1, 2013. While the new coding system does not officially replace ICD-9-CM for a couple of years, it is imperative that OMS coding and billing staff begin preparations for the transition now by taking this preliminary step. The course will also be beneficial to OMS anesthesia and surgical assistants and other OMS clinical and office staff that are involved in patient care, as well as to residents and dental students just starting out in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

If you would like to:

  • Communicate more effectively with patients, vendors and referral sources;
  • Build or strengthen your knowledge base for your coding skills;
  • Prepare for the transition to ICD-10-CM; and
  • Represent the practice with authority

This is the course for you!

Set the Bar High - Complete the All New AAOMS Coding Certificate Program and Get the Recognition You Deserve!

Coding Certificate Program

The all new AAOMS Coding Certificate Program (CCP) offers a coding instruction series for OMSs and their staff unmatched in scope and detail anywhere else. This specialty-specific certificate program consists of three course levels - Basic, Beyond the Basics and Advanced (either Advanced Online or the Annual Meeting Advanced Coding Practice Clinic). Development of this offering stems from an Association wide belief that those who successfully complete the entire program should be recognized for their accomplishment and proficiency in OMS coding. While not certification, those AAOMS members and staff that complete the program will be awarded a certificate of completion and special lapel pin, visible proof of these individuals' extensive knowledge of coding principles. Knowledge that will show immediate results - measurable, significant results - for your practice! For more information view frequently asked questions about the new program.
